General Information

Picture Identification is required for all exams. Please make sure you bring an acceptable ID. If you are not sure if we will accept your ID, please call us for more information.

Acceptable IDs: valid state driver's license, student ID or passport.


Not accepted: check cashing cards, picture credit cards, Sam's cards, etc.


Computer-based exams require an appointment. We recommend that appointments are made for pencil-based exams. If you choose to do walk-in testing, there will be an additional charge of $5.00. Please note that there is a $5.00 rescheduling fee for each reschedule.


Fees are payable by cash or check only.


Refund Policy


We only offer refunds to students who have paid for an exam, but do not take the exam. We do not offer refunds for exams already taken.

AICPCU Exams

American Institute for CPCU and Insurance Institute of America offers a variety of exams such as the Delivering Insurance Services exam, Essentials of Supervision exam, Intro to Claims and Intro to Property and Liability exams. University Testing Services offers AICPCU via computer format.

Cost: $15.00 (UGA students) / $30.00 (non-UGA students).

Test availability: This test must be scheduled in advance. Testing times are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am, 10:00 am, 11:30 am, and 2:00 pm. There are specific date-windows when this exam is available.

The CPCU is offered:


January 15 - March 15

April 15 - June 15

July 15 - September 15

October 15 - December 15


Results: In approximately six weeks, an official grade report will be mailed from the AICPCU/IIA.

Castle Worldwide Exams

Castle Worldwide is a certification and licensure firm that delivers Internet-based exams via a secure, password-protected website. Through the secure testing website, the candidate's answers are constantly uploaded to the test provider's secure server. Castle Worldwide offers exams such as Self Assessment Exam for Athletic Trainers and Certification in Occupational Therapy. Chemistry Placement Exam

COMPASS

Cost: $15 per section. If all three sections are taken, the cost will be $45. This exam is subject to our reschedule policy. If you reschedule an appointment to take this exam, you will need to add $5 to the cost of administration for each reschedule.

Test Length: This is an untimed test. See "Summary" below for more information.

Results: An unofficial copy of test results is available by request after the completion of the test.

Summary: There are three components to this computer-based exam, which can be taken together or separately. The components measure math, reading and English. The test is computer-based but is user-friendly and there are tutorials available. For more information, visit the ACT COMPASS website.




Constitution Exams

You must specify which test at the time of the appointment: GA only, US only, or GA/US combined.

There will be one free group exam offered to first time examinees.

 

Test availability: Walk-in exams and appointments are available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. Students taking only one section (i.e. ONLY the Georgia or U.S exam, not both) may arrive as late as 4:00 p.m.

The free group exam for Spring 2010 is scheduled for February 8, 2010 and will be administered in the Miller Learning Center, room 102.

Tickets for the free group exam are available starting January 7, 2010, in the Testing Services lobby of Clark Howell Hall for first time test takers only.

 

You MUST stop by Clark Howell and get a ticket to be able to participate in the free group session

Test Length: 60 minutes for each section

 

Results: Your test results will be available the next Tuesday or Thursday morning after your test date. Your results will be mailed to your address as listed with the University in approximately ten days.

This test is NOT given after the last day of classes for the purposes of fulfilling a graduation requirement.

Summary: This is also known as the Political Science requirement. The State of Georgia requires that all persons receiving a degree from an institution within the Georgia University System show a proficiency in the constitutions of the United States and Georgia. This requirement can be satisfied by examinations administered by UTS in Clark Howell Hall or by completing approved course work. Please see the Undergraduate Bulletin for approved course work.


Students who transfer a course in American Government or Constitution from an out-of-state institution will satisfy the U.S. Constitution requirement and may satisfy the Georgia Constitution requirement by taking the Georgia Constitution test.


Both the United States and the Georgia Constitutions tests may be taken twice before course work will be required.


Retest Policy: One retest is permitted no sooner than two (2) weeks after the first attempt.

eCore Exams

Summary: eCore course are taught entirely online, except for the occasional proctored exam, providing students with the opportunity to complete their first two years of their collegiate career online. eCore provides a convenient and adaptable option for getting started in college or for resuming college after a break. English Placement Exams

Cost: Price for exams scheduled by 4:00 p.m. the prior business day: $15

Test availability: The exam is available Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Test Length: 55 minutes

Results: Your test results will be available the next Tuesday or Thursday morning after your test date. Your results will be mailed to your address as listed with the University in approximately ten days.

Summary: This test contains 60 questions and lasts 55 minutes. Based on the results, a student may be required to complete the Writing Sample Test or placed in either UNIV 1115, ENGL 1101 or ENGL 1102. If they are placed in ENGL 1102, they have exempted ENGL 1101 and will receive credit. The test can only be attempted once.

The English Placement Test consists of two parts, mechanics and rhetoric. A score of 22 (part 1) and 20 (part 2) will place students in English 1102 and give them three hours of credit for English 1101.

Summary: This test is required of all incoming freshmen who had foreign language in high school and wish to continue that same language in college. This exam is used for placement and may only be attempted once. All tests are 60 minutes and vary in the number of questions (maximum 100). A student cannot register for the foreign language that was used to satisfy the CPC requirement unless a test score is on file from either Departmental testing, the College Board SAT II or the College Board Advanced Placement Program.

Independent Study and Distance Learning Exams

Cost: $15.00 for UGA classes and $30.00 for non-UGA classes

Test availability: These tests are given by appointment only! Call UTS to schedule your exam. Times available for appointments are: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. through 2:00 p.m.

Test Length: 3 hours

Summary: University Testing Services serves as one site where students enrolled in UGA Independent Study courses are allowed to take their course-related mid-term and final examinations. In order to take a test at University Testing Services an appointment is required. Independent Study (IS) office policy is that all lessons must have been submitted to their office before scheduling an exam. Also, exam dates must be at least 10 calendar days from the date the appointment is made. For further information, please visit the Independent and Distance Learning website.

If you are taking an independent/distance learning course through any outside agency other than UGA you must complete the following steps:

Contact your institution and notify them of your intentions to take your exam through University Testing Services, UGA.

The institution should include any specific directions for administering and returning the exam.

Contact University Testing Services to schedule an appointment. Appointments are made M-F on a first come basis. Tell the person scheduling the appointment what institution the exam will be coming from and that you have already notify the home institution of your intentions to take the exam within our facilities. You must also indicate the length of the exam and format (paper version or computer based). Please make appointments far enough in advance to ensure the arrival of your exam from your home institution.


Call University Testing Services (706-542-3183) at least 24 hours in advance to make sure your exams has been received.

Arrive on time for your exam. Students who arrive late may be denied admission to the testing facilities. Make sure you bring cash or check for proctoring services and a valid photo I.D.



Institutional SAT

Cost: $75.00

Test availability: This exam is offered by appointment only! Please call University Testing Services for availability.

Test Length: 4.5 hours

Results: Admissions Office. The results for this version of the SAT are only valid for UGA and will not be transferred to another institution. If a student desires to use the SAT for admissions at other schools, please visit the SAT website.

Summary: This version of the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) is offered as an option for students seeking admission to UGA. The test is approx. 4.5 hours long and calculators are allowed. There is a 25-minute essay, six 25-minute sections, two 20-minute sections, and a 10 minute multiple choice writing section.



ISO-Quality Testing Exams (IQT)

ISO-Quality Testing (IQT) is a certification and licensure firm that provides secure, high quality, user-friendly computerized exams to credentialing bodies and the candidates which they examine. MAT (Miller Analogies Test)

Cost: $80.00

Test availability: This test must be scheduled in advance. Testing times are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am, 10:00 am, 11:30 am, 2:00 pm and 3:30 pm.

Test Length: 60 minutes

Results: An unofficial copy of test results is available by request after the completion of the test.

Scores will be sent from the Psychological Corporation within 15-20 working days.

Summary: The MAT is a test which is used as part of the credentials presented for some graduate programs in the social sciences, education, and the humanities. It consists of 120 analogies, is multiple-choice, and has a 60-minute timing limit. For additional information, please visit the MAT website.



Math Placement Exam

Test Length: 45 minutes

Results: Your test results will be available the next Tuesday or Thursday morning after your test date. Your results will be mailed to your address as listed with the University in approximately ten days.

 

Transfer Students with math courses that DID NOT transfer as equivalent to UGA courses are encouraged to take the math placement test. No credit is given for exempted courses, but exemption of MATH 1113 or MATH 1101 may satisfy core and/or degree requirements.


Summary: A 26-question test administered during Orientation and at UTS is used to determine placement in mathematics courses. Students who score between 12 and 15 will exempt MATH 1101 (Mathematical Modeling) and may enroll in MATH 1113 (Pre-calculus).

Students who score 16 or higher will exempt MATH 1113 and may begin their University studies with MATH 2200 or MATH 2250 (Differential Calculus). No credit is given for exempted courses, but exemption of MATH 1113 or MATH 1101 may satisfy Core and/or Degree requirements.


Auxiliary Test: Credit for MATH 1113 may be earned by passing an auxiliary examination administered by the Mathematics Department. Since this exam must be taken before a student has been enrolled in a college-level mathematics course for over three weeks, interested students are encouraged to go to the Mathematics Department during the first week of classes each semester. Regent's Exam

Cost: Free

Requirements: By a policy statement issued in 1972, the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia instituted the requirement that each institution of the University System of Georgia ensure that students obtaining a degree possess certain minimum skills of reading and writing. These skills are referred to as the Regents' Writing Skills and Reading Skills.

Students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs leading to the baccalaureate degree must meet Regents' Reading Skills and Regents' Writing Skills requirements for graduation.

Test availability: The Regents' Test is administered system-wide one testing period only each semester (Fall, Spring and Summer). This test is given by appointment only. Students can register each semester for the Regents' Test through the OASIS registration system.

Spring Registration Period is December 15th, 2009 to March 10th, 2010.


Spring test dates are March 15th - 19th.


You must register through OASIS and print your ticket before the registration deadline!

Terry MAPP

The exam will be offered from November 2nd, 2009 through January 20th, 2010.


Test Length: 40 minutes but please allow approximately 60 minutes for testing.


Results: Your score will be displayed immediately upon completion of the exam.


Summary: This is a test of undergraduate reading, writing, critical thinking and math skills. It is used as part of the admissions process to Terry College of Business. This exam is a computer based exam that consists of 36 multiple-choice questions and has a 40-minute time limit. A four-function, non- graphing, or scientific calculator is permitted on the math portion of the exam but each student must bring his/her own calculator.

Terry Accounting Exam

This exam will be available from November 2nd, 2009 through January 20th, 2010.


Test Length: 3 hours


Results: Available from University Testing Services on Tuesday of the week following your examination date.


Summary: This examination is one factor considered in a student's application for admission into the J.M. Tull School of Accounting. The test is based on the subject matter covered in a principles-level financial accounting course (equivalent of ACCT 2101 offered at UGA).


All students wishing to major in Accounting at the J.M. Tull School of Accounting are required to take an Entrance Examination. This Entrance Examination is based on the subject matter covered in a Principles-level Financial Accounting course (equivalent of ACCT 2101 offered at the University of Georgia). The topics covered will include:


1. An overview of Financial Statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Statement of Cash Flows).

2. Journalizing transactions, including adjusting and closing entries.

3. The revenue cycle, including accounting for bad debts.

4. Accounting for Inventory, including FIFO, LIFO and Average Cost methods.

5. Accounting for payroll, taxes and contingent liabilities.

6. Accounting for Investments in Property, Plant and Equipment and Intangible Assets.

7. Accounting for Long-Term Liabilities, including leases and bonds.

8. Accounting for Equity Financing

9. Accounting for Investments in Financial securities (stocks and bonds)

10. The Statement of Cash Flows.


A student who has passed a Principles level Financial Accounting course (equivalent of ACCT 2101 at UGA), should be able to perform satisfactorily in this test. The examination will consist of 50 multiple-choice questions, covering all of the above mentioned topics. The test will have numerical problems as well as conceptual questions.

Tull School of Accounting Entrance Examination. The actual questions in your examination will be different (and may test different concepts), and you should not use this Practice Examination as your only study guide. Paper testing times are Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.


The exam will be offered November 16, 2009 to January 22, 2010 for students applying to Grady for application period Spring 2010.


Test Length: 1.5 hours


Results: Available from the Grady School of Journalism


Summary: This examination is one factor considered in a student's application for admission into the Grady School of Journalism. The exam can be taken on the computer or handwritten. Students who wish to take the exam on the computer must schedule an appointment. All exams are given on a first come, first serve basis.
